Strong Week 1 performances can be misleading. Sometimes a player might do really well in Week 1 and then fall off the map the rest of the season. Fantasy Managers will spend large chunks of their waiver budget, or make a trade offer to grab a player that ultimately ends up peaking early in the season. The players below do not fall into that category. We take a look at players that put up big numbers during Week 1 that we think will continue to consistently put up strong numbers all season.

Quatrerback

Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh

Big Ben is back! After coming back from injury, it was nice to see Roethlisberger have a good game to start the season. Big Ben historically has had his issues on the road, but that won’t be much of a factor this season if there are no fans in the stands. Roethlisberger was 21/32 for 229 yards and 3 Touchdowns on Monday night. JuJu looked great as well catching 6 passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns. Between JuJu, Dionate Johnson, Claypool, Washington and Ebron, Big Ben has some great weapons around him. He is in prime position to put up some big fantasy numbers this season. And with how well the Steelers defense looked, Pittsburgh is going to be a tough team to beat this season. The Steelers defeated the Giants 26-16 on Monday night.

Up next Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers host the Denver Broncos at 1:00 EST on Sunday.

Running Backs

Clyde Edwards-Helaire – Kansas City

The rookie running back out of LSU had a lot of hype coming into this season, and he lived up to it. Clyde had 25 carries for 138 yards and a touchdown on Thursday night. He is also known for being a great receiver out of the backfield, and the Chiefs haven’t gotten him involved yet in the passing game which is something to look forward to. His only setback on Thursday was his goal line carries. He was stopped short multiple times by the Texans defense. Edwards-Helaire looked good, and seems to be the real deal this season. The Chiefs defeated the Texans 34-20 on Thursday night.

Next up for Edwards-Helaire and the Chiefs – at the Chargers at 4:25 p.m. EST on Sunday

David Johnson – Houston Texans

Is David Johnson back? It sure seems like it. Although the Cardinals may have won the trade with the Texans by getting DeAndre Hopkins, it might not be as lopsided as many think. Johnson looked great on Thursday night against the Chiefs defense with 11 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown. He also had 3 receptions for 32 yards. With a new home in Houston, Johnson seems to have found what he lost in Arizona. The Texans need Johnson to step up even more with Duke Johnson battling an ankle injury. The Texans fell to the Chiefs 34-20 on Thursday night.

Up next Johnson and the Texans host the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. EST.

Wide Receivers

Robert Woods – Los Angeles Rams

Robert Woods is another player that got a lot of hype coming into the 2020 season. He also lived up to those expectations on Sunday night against the Cowboys. Woods had 6 catches for 105 yards on 8 targets. With Brandin Cooks now with the Texans, there will be an abundance of targets coming Woods way. Woods looked great after the catch picking up significant yardage. Woods and Goff had a great connection on Sunday, and he will be a huge part of their offense moving forward. The Rams defeated the Cowboys 20-17 on Sunday night.

Up next for the Rams – at the Eagles at 1:00 p.m. EST on Sunday.

Allen Lazard – Green Bay

Lazard and Rodgers had a great connection on Sunday. Lazard caught all 4 of his targets for 63 yards and a touchdown. Lazard also had 1 carry for 19 yards. Rodgers will be throwing the ball plenty this year, and they all can’t go to Davante Adams. (Although most of them probably will.) Rodgers is on a mission this season, not only to make up for his atrocious numbers last year, but to also prove that he is still the man in Green Bay. After the Packers drafted a quarterback in the 2020 draft, the clock started ticking for Rodgers remaining time in Green Bay. Lazard will be a valuable fantasy asset for your roster and should be a trusted receiving option for Rodgers this season.

Up next Lazard and the Packers host the Lions on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST

Tight End

Dallas Goedert – Philadelphia

Goedert was the bright spot for the Eagles in their upset loss to the Washington Football Team on Sunday. The Eagles have a powerful 1-2 combo at tight end with Ertz and Goedert. Goedert was a star tight end in college for the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, and he has made an impact for the Eagles early in his career. Wentz and Goedert were Missouri Valley Conference rivals in college, but now they have a great connection in Philadelphia. Goedert caught 8 passes for 101 yards and a touchdown on Sunday. Time will tell if the Eagles will agree to a contract extension with Ertz, but even if they don’t, Goedert is a great option for their future. Goedert should continue to put up great numbers for the Eagles this season. And with how depleted their receivers are, Ertz and Goedert can both be top 10 fantasy tight ends this season.

Up next for Goedert and the Eagles – vs. the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST.
